WHY DO RCA PARTS NEED LESS LUBRICATION?

DO RUBBER CITY ARMORY PARTS EVER NEED CLEANING?

RCA parts do require cleaning. A normal cleaning schedule is suggested even with an RCA treated part. Using a good lubricant that resists high heat will make the job easier. Burnt oil turns to carbon so use quality oils and clean less more easily.

WHAT FIREARMS WILL RCA PARTS FIT?

If you install a low mass Bolt Carrier Group we reccomend the following changes also be made to your firearm.
Buffer: Either gut it by removing the weights or purchase a reputable low mass buffer/system. Taccom makes a system for all your needs.

Adjustable Gas System: You should have adjustable gas in conjunction with a low mass BCG. Depending on your guns gas system (Rifle, Mid or Carbine) length, you will probably need less gas to the bolt carrier. The RCA adjustable gas key or an adjustable gas block are good choices.

Low mass carrier:  6.8 oz 8620 construction

Titanium Low Mass: 5.7 oz and is a full sized M16 profile.

Now you can add an adjustable gas system to your rifle without having to disassemble your rifles handguard, sight systems, muzzle devices and current gas block.

Adjustable gas key is made of pre-hardened 4140 billet

Includes: 2 set screws

                        1 – long adjustment screw

                        1 – short locking set screw

The purpose of our adjustable gas key is to allow you to adjust the gas pressure to the operating system giving you the ability to tune bolt and carrier speed. Ultimately this will provide you less felt recoil and a smoother running rifle when used in conjunction with the Rubber City Armory Low Mass Carrier and a lightened buffer system such as the JP systems.

 

The RCA Adjustable Gas can be used to modify operating system pressure for suppressor use, short-barrel weapons, or chamberings of nonstandard cartridges.

 

To adjust for your load:

Remove the short set screw to expose the long adjustment screw in the rear of the key.

Turn the long adjustment screw in all the way to close it off.

Back it out one full turn. Load one round in the magazine and fire.

If the bolt holds open, your key is set.

If the bolt does not stay open, the port should be opened about another half turn.

Continue loading and firing one round and backing the long gas adjustment screw out until the bolt holds open on last round consistently.

Once your rifles gas system is adjusted, back the long screw out ¼ turn more and replace the short locking screw on top of it. Tighten it securely, locking the long screw in place. A small dab of paint or blue Loctite can be used on the locking screw if desired.

 

If for any reason you change ammunition, your rifle may not cycle reliably. You should test your weapon system again with any ammunition that you intend to use. We cannot guarantee reliable performance with untried ammunitions.

A new rifle or bolt assembly will have more friction and may require a break-in period during which the gas key should be run wide open.
